Age is a feeling

It's true what they say... age is a feeling.
Colin: "How old is Mom?"
Dad: "Mom will be 30 this year."
Colin: "30?! That's almost a hundred!"
When you have kids, sometimes it FEELS like a hundred, kiddo. :)

Somehow we got to talking about how Ben once cut his hand while trying to cut his own slice of watermelon.
Abby: "Yeah, there was blood all over, and me and Colin had to clean it up!"
Dad: "You and Colin did?"
Abby: "Yeah... just like Cinderella!"
Dad (fearing child abuse): "Like Cinderella?"
Abby (pointing out the obvious): "Ye-ah... you know, on your hands and knees?"
Oh, my poor baby girl... Heaven forbid you should have to CLEAN anything... :)

Colin's reading

One night recently I was reading with Colin (Little Critter's "Show and Tell"), helping him to sound out a few new words. He sometimes prefers to guess what's next by looking at the pictures instead of sound things out.

Dad: "This is my cat. He likes to..."
Colin: "... Eat a mouse?"
Dad: "OK... This is my hamster. He likes to..."
Colin: "Ummm... be in a ball?"
Dad: "OK, we'll finish our reading later..."

He's one clever bug...
